Electrical Engineer

Mide is seeking applications for the following skill areas. Proficiency in multiple of these areas is ideal; however, candidates with a mixture of proficiency in these domains will be considered, e.g. a strong embedded developer with limited application programming experience or a strong application developer with limited embedded programming or electrical engineering experience. Candidates with high proficiency in a single of these areas will also be considered.

Embedded Software Developer

Education: BS or MS in computer engineering, computer science or electrical engineering.

Experience: Minimum 4 years of industry experience.

Description: Midé Technology Corporation is seeking a software developer experienced in embedded programming (C/asm), particularly for small and low-power platforms.

The embedded candidate would be expected to develop for multiple embedded platforms (e.g. MSP430, various ARM families), specifying and familiarizing themselves with new platforms / families as required to meet a given application's needs. The embedded platorms are typically "bare metal" (OS-less) but may occasionally include embedded Linux or RTOS platforms. Expertise in C and efficient coding practices for CPU-, memory- and power-limited systems, including embedded power management, is a must. Assembly language or mixed C/asm experience with at least one embedded platform strongly preferred. Prior development experience with very low-power (e.g. energy-harvesting) platforms strongly preferred. Experience in object-oriented programming in C++ is a plus, but not necessary. Prior experience with the GNU toolchain and tools (gcc, gdb) a plus. Detailed familiarity with MSP430 and/or EFM32 microcontrollers and the associated peripheral sets & libraries a plus.

Python Application Software Developer

Education: BS or MS in computer science preferred; qualified computer engineering or electrical engineering candidates will also be considered.

Experience: Minimum 4 years of industry experience.

Description: Midé Technology Corporation is seeking an experienced Python developer for both internal R&D and customer-deployed applications.

The candidate would be expected to develop host-side support for a variety of embedded systems including USB, wireless and mesh networking devices. The ideal candidate is fluent in multi-threaded, network-aware GUI programming using at least one cross-platform UI toolkit (such as Tkinter (preferred), QT or GTK). Familiarity with peripheral libraries such as PyUSB/libusb and pyserial, the NumPy numerical library, and graphing/plotting libraries (particularly matplotlib) are a plus. The flexibility to move seamlessly between customer-facing (stable, maintainable, well-documented, more waterfall-like) and one-off internal R&D (quick & dirty, get-er-done) design methodologies is essential.

Senior Electronics Engineer

Education: Bachelor of Science (MS preferred) in electrical or computer engineering.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of industry experience.

Description: Midé Technology Corporation is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer responsible for hardware design in support of a broad range of research and development programs. The candidate should have significant experience in designing, testing, and troubleshooting analog and digital circuits, with an emphasis on board-level power electronics. Specific areas of interest include: high voltage linear and switching amplifiers for driving piezoelectric actuators, medium power (<1kW) AC/DC and DC/DC voltage converters, inverters, power supplies, and motor control.

Competence in efficient piezoelectric/solar energy harvesting interface circuitry is very desirable. The ideal candidate will have expertise in electronics hardware yet have a working knowledge of digital systems and be able to develop microcontroller firmware for embedded applications. The candidate should be able to quickly transform a concept to a working prototype and be involved in all phases of development, from design and simulation to assembly, test, and documentation.

Other Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  • Experience with one or more schematic capture tools (Orcad, Eagle)
  • PCB layout methods for signal integrity, reduced EMI, etc.
  • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing and machine assembly processes
  • Competent in circuit simulation software (SPICE, MATLAB or other)

For All Skills/Positions:

The candidate will work closely with a small EE/CE team to guide the codevelopment of hardware platforms, embedded firmware and any necessary host-side software support (e.g. GUI client for desktop PCs). This small team works on a wide variety of diverse projects on a rapid, research-oriented development pace, also working closely with a team of mechanical/aerospace engineers to provide experimental, test and measurement support. The ideal candidate is flexible and able to rapidly pick up new platforms, tools, programming languages and application-specific knowledge such as network and peripheral protocols as new projects emerge. Responsibilities also include writing documentation and contributing to technical progress reports, therefore, strong written communication skills and English fluency are a must.

Marine Engineer

Education: Degree in Marine Engineering

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a Marine Engineering position.

Description: Mide Marine is seeking a Marine engineer with knowledge in large ship systems. Specific knowledge on stern tube seals is preferred.

Requirements:

Product and Installation Technician

Education: High School Diploma required, technical education or trade preferred.

Experience: 5 years minimum in a mechanical or "hands on" environment.

Description: Midé is seeking a thorough, hardworking and focused technician with great teamwork and communication skills to join our bulkhead seal product team. Bulkhead seals are large sealing components that fit around the shaft of a ship. This job will involve tasks performed both at our Medford, MA location as well as tasks performed at various shipyards around the USA. This job will involve significant travel. In office tasks will include inspection, assembly, inventory management, testing and packaging of the bulkhead seals. Travel tasks will include installation and testing of the bulkhead seals onboard military and commercial vessels.
