Description

The QPA200 is a high-voltage, single-channel linear amplifier specifically designed for driving Mide’s line of Quickpack/PowerAct transducers and other piezoelectric capacitive loads.  The instrument is configured as an inverting amplifier that offers a fixed or adjustable DC gain in the range of –10 to -100.  The bipolar output spans +200V to –200V with an integrated current limit of +/-200mA.  It has a bandwidth exceeding 1kHz for typical loads, a slew rate of 40V/us, and an accuracy of less than 1%.

Two analog output signals are provided on the face of the instrument for precise monitoring of scaled load voltage and current.  The user is alerted to current-limiting and short-circuit conditions by a red LED indicator.  In addition, the QPA200 monitors internal device temperature and power dissipation levels in order to provide a protective automatic thermal-shutdown capability, also indicated by a yellow LED.

Internally, the QPA200 is a hybrid piezo amplifier consisting of a power operational amplifier coupled with an efficient, high-voltage switch mode power supply.  It is available for benchtop operation in a compact aluminum enclosure measuring less than 9 x 9 x 4 inches with a total weight of 7lbs.   The simple, economical design makes the QPA200 a suitable choice for medium-performance piezoelectric applications.
